The Aging Body

June 19, 2007 at 4:32 pm (Aging body, Heel Spurs, Isaiah, Joy, Kingdom of God, New Heaven, New earth, Pain, Pirate gift, Sickness)

I was reading the last few chapters of Isaiah this morning and longing for the days of a new heaven and new earth.  I had a conversation yesterday about the thought of the imminency of the kingdom life and how that redeems so many aspects of life.  However, I cannot wait to receive the new body.  Aches, pains, allergies, sickness…all such a hassle, but they sure do make us depend on God.  I had a friend who is having terrible problems with his foot.  He works out a lot, and it appears that he has developed a heel spur, which is incredibly painful.  Fortunately, he has found a good place online to diagnose it and discover some treatment ideas.  As he makes his recovery, I thought I’d get him a gift to help cheer him up, and I found this sweet pirate belt buckle online.  I know he’ll love it!  Praise God for the simple joys in life that we get to have in Him as our bodies temporarily deteriorate away.

Dream Home

June 8, 2007 at 6:36 pm (bathroom, dream home, home depot, interior decorating, jacuzzi, paint, shower)

I always find it fun to think about particular features of my dream home.  Recently, I was at Home Depot, and they definitely help you in your imagination.  I love their paint department because they have some great designs for kids, which got me curious about looking a few other places.  I also love to think about a big huge bathroom one day.  For whatever reason, the idea of a walk in shower and jacuzzi has always appealed to me.  I’m sure one day, I will thinking more about accessability than comfort, but for now, it’s fun to dream.

Disposable Income

June 5, 2007 at 8:08 pm (Cincinnati Reds, Entertainment, Gas Prices, Homer Bailey, Movies, Newport Aquarium)

With the recent hike in gas prices and no real end in site, I have definitely taken a closer look at where I’m spending some of my entertainment dollars.  There are certain places that will still receive my dollars no matter what, such as the summer blockbusters like Pirates of the Caribbean III and the continually frustrating Cincinnati Reds.  However, there are other places that I just simply have to say no to.  For example, the value that the Newport Aquarium supplies for my dollar is just not worth it to me ($17.95 for adult admission).   Give me a $5 nosebleed seat and watch me do the wave as I root on our Redlegs to another losing season.  Well, there’s always hope in the future…bring on Homer Bailey!  He’s debuting this Friday against the Indians.  I can’t wait to watch him!
